Presidents Report 13/3/07

Well it is back into full swing again this month with a dance at Tinana Hall,  a Sausage Sizzle under Woolies and the Movie Night in Wharf Street  all of which which were very successful.

This year’s judging of the Youth of the Year was held on Wednesday, 28th February at Senior Citizens Hall, Alice Street in combination with Granville Lions.  We each had two students.  It was a very entertaining night.  I would like to thank Lion Bev Hodges for all the work she put into it. A job well done.

Lion Brian Hodges and his Nomination Committee are doing a great job. As I understand it there is only one position vacant -    that is for a Treasurer.

Our three exchange students Tim Pollock, Thomas Pherson and Sam Naaba gave us an interesting talk on their experiences in Canada and America. It was very entertaining and by the sound of it  they had a wonderful time. Youth Zone Chairman Charlie and Joan Walker came down from Bundaberg to hear them speak of their travels.

It was pleasing to see Jock and Margaret Hawser at the meeting as it has been quite a while since they have attended owing to Jocks health.

It was also nice to see John & Ailsa Head attend also - to see how the club works. I believe they are considering joining our Club and we may have another couple joining.. It will be great if we can get these 4 people to join -  it will help our work force.

We donated $500 towards the cost of a water lift to be installed in John Croft’s home because of his ill health.

Dates this month are: Sausage Sizzle under Woollies 11th and 25th,,  Dance 17th March and a BBQ at Chelsea on the 17th March  - St Patrick’s  Day.

The Easter Raffle will be from the 22nd March - 5th April. The roster will be  available at the Board  Meeting - please put your name on it.

I would like to thank all the members that helped throughout the Month. it was a great job well done

I would like to see a roster system done for the markets under Woolies as with new members coming in and we all can share the load. We have a lot more dates this year.

It is time we held a social outing again. I would like to hear ideas at  this Board  Meeting - maybe a Mothers Day Breakfast! We need to do something to boost our Administration account or we will be in difficulties. This is one way we can.

Yours in Lions
Maurice Bates
(President)
