Saving Koala Project

Partnering with Sunshine Coast Council to help save our koala populations!

This year Mooloolah River Landcare is collaborating to save Sunshine Coast koalas!  We’re excited to be part of this project along with Sunshine Coast Council, First Nations Peoples, UniSC’s Detection Dogs for Conservation and Brush Turkey Enterprises.

This koala project is focused on improving knowledge about and habitat for Sunshine Coast Koalas. MRL will be growing an additional 3,500 Koala food and habitat trees.

By working together we can be more strategic, focus on our strengths, and have a more meaningful impact on our local Koala populations.
We will also be organising a koala habitat tree planting day in Spring.

Code Word = 'gula'

If you would like to plant koala habitat trees on your property – come and see us! You can get free trees by saying the code word, which is the Jinibara word for koala, while stocks last!
