Enhancing Native Plant Propagation for Ecosystem Restoration

Delivering impactful environmental outcomes

Mooloolah River Landcare are very proud recipients of Grassroots Environmental Grants program, Round 1: Environmental Conservation. The new program titled “Enhancing Native Plant Propagation for Ecosystem Restoration” will be completed by March 2027.

This project aims to upgrade Mooloolah River Landcare’s native plant nursery with essential infrastructure to enhance restoration efforts and increase seedling production. The project seeks to support biodiversity and climate resilience, and create a safer, more inclusive space for volunteers.

These upgrades will directly support biodiversity gains, climate resilience, and community engagement.

For this grant we have been working through:

  • installing new benches with the help of ECOllaboration trainees.
  • building specialised stable tables and purchasing height adjustable seating for our disabled volunteers
  • installation of LED lighting above the volunteer area
  • providing PPE for our volunteers, including work safe shirts, and safety barriers
  • purchase and installation of a new cover and heat mat to create a new cutting specific prop tunnel
  • hosted 2 x workshop for volunteers and the public on vegetive propagation techniques – aimed to help fill our our new tunnel which can hold 4500 cuttings!

This program is supported by the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
